NATIONAL AWARD WINNER
Camberwell High School is proud to celebrate an outstanding achievement for our students and Pathways into Technology (P-TECH) program, which has been named the winner of Best Program for Young Individuals in Security at the 2026 Australian Women in Security Awards.
The award recognises programs that are helping to inspire and develop the next generation of talent in the security sector. For CHS, the recognition is a wonderful acknowledgement of the opportunities our students have to explore real-world challenges, connect with industry and begin to imagine what their future could look like.
P-TECH is part of the broader Launch program at Camberwell High School, providing students with opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills through authentic learning experiences, industry connections and challenges in areas including cybersecurity and technology.
Creating opportunities for the next generation
The Australian Women in Security Awards have a particular focus on recognising the achievements of women working across cybersecurity, IT security, protective security and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence.
Being part of an event that celebrated the achievements of exceptional women across the security sector was particularly meaningful for CHS. The evening highlighted how much the industry has changed and the growing opportunities available to young people entering these fields.
At Camberwell, we want our students to understand that these pathways are open to them.
Through Launch and P-TECH, students are encouraged to explore fields where they may not always have seen themselves represented and to develop the confidence to ask questions, solve problems, collaborate with others and see themselves as future contributors to industries that are shaping our world.
Creating these opportunities is especially important for young women and girls. By connecting students with industry professionals, authentic challenges and positive role models, we can help make pathways into technology, cybersecurity and security more visible and accessible.
Learning beyond the classroom
The success of P-TECH is built on collaboration. Our students benefit from the expertise, time and encouragement of staff, industry partners and university partners who are all represented on our P-TECH Steering Committee.
These partnerships provide experiences that extend beyond what can be achieved in a traditional classroom. Students are able to engage with real problems, learn from people working in the industry and develop an understanding of where their knowledge and skills could take them in the future.
The award is therefore a recognition not only of the P-TECH program, but of the collective commitment of our community in providing young people with meaningful opportunities to learn, explore and contribute.
Most importantly, this achievement belongs to our students. Their curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to take on new challenges are at the heart of what makes P-TECH and Launch so special.
We are incredibly proud to see our students represented on a national stage and to celebrate their contribution to a program that is opening doors to future possibilities.
