Co-Curricular Programs

Instrumental Music

Camberwell High School’s instrumental music program boasts eleven bands and ensembles and is highly valued by the school community. It’s considered one of Victoria’s best. All students who learn an instrument (over 16 instruments are taught in small group lessons) are required to be in one of the ensembles.

Every year, the music department hosts a range of events, including performances at school and community events, concerts, and festivals. Senior ensembles also travel locally, interstate, and internationally, enhancing their musical skills and cultural experiences. In 2024, over 30 students toured the US during the Term 2 holiday period.

The school also features a biennial musical production and student-led events such as Battle of the Bands and Talent Quest.

Interschool Sport

We provide a wide range of opportunities for students to compete in different sports. In the Junior School, students are selected for Interschool Sport teams through the Sport Education program, based on their interest and aptitude for competitive play. In the Senior School, teams are formed based on student interest, training, and selection processes.

The school organises Sports Carnivals for swimming, athletics, and cross-country events. Students who excel at the school level have the chance to represent their school at higher levels of competition.

Lunchtime Activities

There are many lunchtime clubs and activities to keep students engaged. Table tennis can be played in The Hub. The Sports Hall is in constant use for sports training. Music students often rehearse at lunch. The library is open for board games, reading, and private study. Junior School students can borrow sports equipment for lunchtime play. Homework clubs operate for those needing extra support.
