Grade 6 to Year 7 Transition 2026

Complimenting the state-wide Year 6 to 7 Placement Timeline as set out by the Department of Education (DE), our timeline of activities supports you and your child in becoming a part of our school community. Some key dates:

Information Packs: The DE distributed information packs on Friday 4 April via government primary schools for all Grade 6 students who are transitioning to Year 7 in 2026.

Applications for Placement: due Friday 9 May (via your child’s primary school). For government school students, their primary school will then forward the form to their first-preference high school.

  • NB: If your child is enrolled in a Catholic or independent primary school, you should apply directly to us. (The application process follows the same timeline as for government schools.)

Year 7 2026 LEEP Program: Extension Opportunities

Research shows that accelerated learning—where curriculum is delivered at a faster pace—effectively meets the needs of academically gifted and talented students. These students grasp foundational concepts quickly and benefit from the added challenge of more complex material. We invite young inquiring minds and their parents to attend our LEEP Information Night on Wednesday 13 August.
